If you don't have this stuff, you're screwed Just like the Equipment List, this is a compilation of must-have and nice-to-have stuff. Print this out, take it with you, and track this stuff down like the hunter-gatherer that you are. Yes, I know, some of these items will sound stupidly obvious, but we've got to start somewhere, aside from the normal assortment of fruits, veggies, meats, and such. Once you have these essential items at your disposal, you'll find whipping up meals a cinch. Oh crap, I think I just sounded like Martha Stewart.

"Oh, I eat from the three major food groups......
Bacon, Ham and Pork" -Steve Gresser

Unless you're down for a Veggie Burger every day or count the minutes to your next Tofurkey, chances are that the meat of something that was once alive(but is now dead) will make up the bulk of the protein that ...

And on the eighth day, God invented Ramen noodles. Fast food, whether it be a burger slung out a window or a gordito tossed in your lap, has its place in our lives. It's fast, cheap, and convenient. However, short of the drive through, the only real options we seem to have are to either eat out at a sit-down restaurant or to stay at home and prepare a full home-cooked meal. Ok, I can hear you laughing now because for many guys, the definition of "home-cooked meal" is liberally applied. Very liberally. And frozen. And canned.

When we eat, we have essentially three choices:

Let's face it, whether you actually "like the taste" or you're just getting wired on caffeine for another late night of whatever, coffee and tea are an integral part of most of our daily lives. Now, good tea is mostly an exercise in buying quality tea, a foofy teapot, and a collection of some cool, handmade cups. For most of us though, truly the big deal is coffee, since we drink so much of the stuff. Here's some quick, solid advice on dramatically improving the taste and quality of what you stain your teeth with every a.m. And we all realize how critical that is because, God knows, skipping our daily cup (or pot) of Joe will make most of us look like a heroin addict going through withdrawals.

A lot of men that I am friends with are against cooking with cast iron pots and pans. For one, they do not want to buy cast iron because the price of cast iron is often higher than Teflon or other types of cookware. The other reason is that they also think seasoning and caring for cast iron cookware is too difficult and not worth the time and effort it takes to get the job done.

First of all, let me combat the fear of the price of cast iron pots and pans. I have purchased a lot of high end pots and pans, and after doing some price comparisons, the cast iron equivalents are pretty close on price. You can find good deals on new and used cast iron cookware on websites like Amazon.com and also on Craigslist.org. ...

I like 'em Saucy, Saucy, Saucy! There's nothing that makes a dish tastier that putting a little sauce on it. Now, there are also gravies and syrups to drizzle onto, well, whatever you're drizzling it onto, but we'll address most here as sauces. Learn about how they're made and a little about the classic sauces, and you'll find it easy to whip up any sauce, gravy, or syrup. In fact, if you learn about these, making your own soup isn't far behind. Scary, I know.
For the most part, sauces are comprised of a Base, Flavoring, and, typically, a Thickener. I'll also ...

Men, you need to learn how to cook a real meal in your kitchen. Real meals do not come in a wrapper at a drive-through, nor are they Spam in a can. Real, honest-to-goodness food is planned, prepared and created in the kitchen. I know most of you enjoy eating a fast-food meal or engaging in devouring a calorie-filled, unhealthy processed meal once in awhile, and so do I. This article is not going to be a preachy text about eating healthy. Its intent is to touch on the joys of meal creation, preparation, cooking and dining.
