The editor and staff of this have grown tired of seeing magazines and article written for men that do nothing to truly build their character, their future and their lives. Most of what is available for reading today seems to target sex, six pack abs, video games and other nonessential topics that do nothing to edify real men. There is a growing movement afoot to bring back that man of yesteryear of the last great generation of manly, rugged men. The qualities of that disciplined man of old that transformed America into greatness are making a comeback today.

Office Christmas Party Etiquette Guide For Men

It is that time of year again when most of you guys will be invited to a Christmas or holiday party. The office Christmas party is pretty much a mandatory event, so the main rule that needs to be followed is to be sure to show up! If you do not make it to the party, not only will all of your coworkers notice, but your boss will especially take note of your absence. You will be seen as antisocial and not a company team player, as well as an all around "bah humbug" Ebenezer Scrooge. This will certainly affect you when it is time for company evaluations, raises and promotions. So do not make the "career killer" mistake of not showing up!

    A Man's Kitchen - Essential Ingredients

If you don't have this stuff, you're screwed Just like the Equipment List, this is a compilation of must-have and nice-to-have stuff. Print this out, take it with you, and track this stuff down like the hunter-gatherer that you are. Yes, I know, some of these items will sound stupidly obvious, but we've got to start somewhere, aside from the normal assortment of fruits, veggies, meats, and such. Once you have these essential items at your disposal, you'll find whipping up meals a cinch. Oh crap, I think I just sounded like Martha Stewart.

    Self-Confidence Building For Men

The one key enabling all of us in achieving all of our dreams and goals is having an indestructible self-confidence and a belief in ourselves. Without this unshakable confidence, we would never have the courage to travel the world, learn new things, apply for our dream job, start a business or even find the perfect person to complete our lives. If we do not possess a rock solid self-confidence, we might procrastinate on pursuing our dreams, sabotaging ourselves, or even not trying anything at all. Se...

"Oh, I eat from the three major food groups......
Bacon, Ham and Pork" -Steve Gresser Unless you're down for a Veggie Burger every day or count the minutes to your next Tofurkey, chances are that the meat of something that was once alive(but is now dead) will make up the bulk of the protein that you eat everyday. Given that, the majority of the meat that is widely available on the market is beef/veal, chicken, pork, lamb, turkey, and duck. Grudgingly, I'll include fish. Then ...

    Fast Food by Ian Stone

And on the eighth day, God invented Ramen noodles. Fast food, whether it be a burger slung out a window or a gordito tossed in your lap, has its place in our lives. It's fast, cheap, and convenient. However, short of the drive through, the only real options we seem to have are to either eat out at a sit-down restaurant or to stay at home and prepare a full home-cooked meal. Ok, I can hear you laughing now because for many guys, the definition of "home-cooked meal" is liberally applied. Very liberally. And frozen. And canned.

When we eat, we have essentially three choices:

A Gentleman's Guide to Cell Phone Etiquette

There is no getting around the fact that cell phones have become a part of our everyday modern world. Although a gentleman can hardly conduct his business and personal life without a mobile phone, he must do his very best not to use it in an obtrusive manner. He knows that if he is going to use his cell phone, it must be in a way that does not impose on the people around him. Some men like to show off their brand-new cell phone and other gadgets, hoping to impress others by prancing around a cr...

Let's Talk Water!! by Paul Joslyn

Let’s talk water!! With summer just around the corner I have been thinking about how much better water can make a miserable, hot day. Water is composed of two hydrogen molecules and one oxygen molecule, better known as dihydrogen oxide to my more nerdy peeps out there. Water comprises approximately 60 - 78 percent of the human body and is crucial for our survival. A cool thing about water is the fact that it is able to exist in three different forms: liquid, solid, and gaseous.

Liquid form is one of the most widely seen forms of water, which is found in our lakes, rivers, streams, and oceans. ...

The Blessing of Being an Unemployed Man

Growing up, I always heard that if you wanted to be successful, you should go out and find a stable job with a big company, work there 30 to 40 years, move up in position and eventually retire with a nice monthly pension. That sounds good, but in today's business climate, that is hardly a reality. Big businesses are often not loyal to their hardworking, long-term employees. They are famous for outsourcing to other countries, getting rid of long-term employees to avoid paying them their retirement (and sometimes even cashing out on their stock), and then closing the doors, leaving their faithful workers out in the cold.

  • Halley’s Comet by Paul Joslyn

    Halley’s Comet by Paul Joslyn

Halley’s Comet is the most famous comet of all the comets I have ever read about. It was named after the great Edmund Haley, who was born in 1656 and obviously lived until he died in 1742. It is often forgotten about due to its long absences from our skies. This beauty will only orbit the sun every seventy-six years. Halley’s Comet last graced us with a sighting in 1986 and is not scheduled for return flight until 2062. For this I am a little sad that this comet will not come around again until I am far too old and senile to know what the heck I am looking at. Most likely, as a seventy-eight year old man, I will stare up at the sky, and shake my cane in a violent fashion, telling that bright light to go away so I can sleep. Well, enough about me--let’s get back to our topic.

How to Make the Perfect Cup of Coffee by Ian Stone

Let's face it, whether you actually "like the taste" or you're just getting wired on caffeine for another late night of whatever, coffee and tea are an integral part of most of our daily lives. Now, good tea is mostly an exercise in buying quality tea, a foofy teapot, and a collection of some cool, handmade cups. For most of us though, truly the big deal is coffee, since we drink so much of the stuff. Here's some quick, solid advice on dramatically improving the taste and quality of what you stain your teeth with every a.m. And we all realize how critical that is because, God knows, skipping our daily cup (or pot) of Joe will make most of us look like a heroin addict going through withdrawals.
